Lady Antebellum Performs on Ellen’s “Somewhat Special Special”

Posted by Big Papa | Posted in Lady Antebellum | Posted on 29-06-2010

Lady Antebellum joined Ellen Degeneres on her “Somewhat Special Special”, which aired on TBS on Sunday Night. As you would expect, they performed their amazing chart topping hit, “Need You Now”. I do not think I have ever seen a group hit the mainstream so quickly coming from country music. Rascal Flatts took probably 5 or so years. Kenny too over a decade. This trio did it in a year or two. Very impressive.

International pop sensation, Charice ,takes on Shania Twain’s “You’re Still the One” in this week’s edition of Mashup Monday on Billboard.com. Check out Oprah’s favorite rising starlet adding her own unique style to the country classic. You’re Still the One” is probably one of my favorite Shania songs. Great song and Charice’s twist on it is pretty cool. Just goes to show how timeless Shania is.

Here is a press release from Sugarland to get your week started…

NASHVILLE, TN – Multi Grammy award-winning Mercury Nashville country duo Jennifer Nettles and Kristian Bush of Sugarland will debut their highly-anticipated fourth studio album “The Incredible Machine” October 19. Nettles and Bush co-wrote the entire record and co-produced with Byron Gallimore. Lead off single “Stuck Like Glue”, written by Nettles, Bush, Kevin Griffin and Shy Carter, goes to radio July 26.

“‘Stuck Like Glue’ is just plain, unashamed, Sugar-fun!” exclaims Nettles. “It sticks in your brain, no pun intended. To me it feels young, hip and of course sassy! I can’t wait for it to get out there so we can play it live in our show. We’ve been sitting on our hands to not play it live ‘til it was released!”

Sugarland has been out on their album titled, “Incredible Machine Tour”, all summer and their high tempo show has been met with rave reviews. I was not a big fan of their last single, “Joey”, but I love most of their other singles. Can’t wait to hear “Stuck Like Glue”.

LeAnn Rimes Gives ET A Backstage Look at Nashville Rising

Posted by Big Papa | Posted in LeAnn Rimes | Posted on 26-06-2010

Entertainment Tonight followed around LeAnn Rimes at the Nashville Rising benefit concert this past week. Hosted by Faith Hill and Tim McGraw, Nashville Rising was able to raise over $2 million in support of flood victims.

Rimes has really gotten herself out in the media lately. It will be interesting to see if all of this publicity (divorce, CMT Awards performance, Entertainment Tonight) will lead to album sales for her new release. By the way. Out of all of the flood benefit concerts, it really seems like Tim and Faith had the best. Sorry Brad Paisley.

Jaron Covers Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas for US Mag

Posted by Big Papa | Posted in Jaron | Posted on 26-06-2010

Jaron was in NYC this past week pushing his album, “Getting Dressed in the Dark”, which came out on Tuesday. The album is selling like hotcakes on iTunes and his smash hit single, “Pray For You” has been certified Gold. Pretty impressive for a guy no one had heard about six months ago.

Check out our exclusive interview with Jaron and our “Who is Jaron?” post from February. Its amazing what getting picked up by a major label will do for a guy who was doing this on his own just a short time ago. I still bet you can’t listen to the song just once.

Here are the two videos of Jaron playing covers of Lady Gaga and the Black Eyed Peas for US Magazine. Pretty funny stuff.
