I could not resist putting up this video from TheBoot.com. The Boot went around at the CMT Awards and was asking stars to share what their senior superlatives were. There are some very funny ones for our favorite country stars.
Here are some of the videos from last night’s CMT Awards. There were some great performances. My favorites were Jamey Johnson and Zac Brown Band. They both really rocked it. Enjoy.
The Red Carpet Special has been going on for about a half hour and the stars have been rolling through and getting interviewed by Melissa Peterman and Evan Farmer.
- Farmer’s interview with Miranda Lambert was just short of trying to steal her from Blake. He was basically drooling over her the entire time and looked like an 8 year old boy.
- Farmer looks a lot more comfortable interviewing the boys compared to the girls. I think he was picked up from middle school to work the red carpet.
- I know CMT is owned by MTV, but why is the cast of “Jersey Shore” at the CMT Awards?
- Now Melissa is drooling over Blake Shelton. This is the first interviewee to the be same height as Peterman.
- After the interview with Kellie Picker there is some amateur hour production going on.
- The rest of the stars file down the Red Carpet highlighted by Carrie Underwood, Erin Andrews, Paula Dean, Taylor Swift and of course Tim and Faith.
- Tim and Faith are talking about their Flood Relief benefit late this month on June 22nd.
- Let’s Get On With the Show
2010 CMT Awards Show
- Kid Rock opens the show some sort of country rap that had a part bleeped out. Then pop out Martina McBride and Kellie Pickler singing “Cowboy” as background vocals. Then comes Trace Adkins and Randy Houser to kick it up a notch. The stars keep popping out with Zac Brown for a verse and then Jamey Johnson singing the “Dukes of Hazard” theme song. To cap off the opening scene of this year’s award show, Hank Williams Jr. joins the crew on stage. Amazing. Very impressive opening. A badass, hard rocking crew with two beautiful ladies.
- Taylor Swift and Faith Hill come out holding hands as the first presenters. Group Video of the Year goes to…….
Lady Antebellum “Need You Now”.
- Trisha Yearwood comes out to talk about Tennessee, flooding and the volunteers who lent a helping hand in the area’s time of need.
- Kid Rock announced the five finalists for Video of the Year. Carrie Underwood, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Taylor Swift and Toby Keith….fans can go and vote right now at CMT.com or text the last name of your choice to #8603 if you are a Verizon customer.
- Kellie Pickler and Terrell Owens are the next pair of presenters. Terrell is singing, “Mama’s Don’t Let Your Babies Grow Up to be Cowboys”….a good laugh. They are there to present Duo Video of the Year and the CMT Buckle goes to…..
Brooks and Dunn “Indian Summer”
- Gloriana introduces Chris Young singing “Getting You Home” the Black Dress song before a commercial break.
- Miranda Lambert comes on stage to perform her 1st #1 hit, “White Liar”. It’s been a huge year for Miranda. Two #1 hits, her first headlining tour and getting engaged to Blake Shelton. The bass player with a huge mohawk is a big distracting though.
- Zac Brown Band presents the USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year Award to…….
Luke Bryan “Do I”
….great song and Luke continues to show that he has tremendous fan support.
- Carrie Underwood introduces the one and only, Tim McGraw. McGraw performs his hit song “Southern Voice”. 30 #1 hits and you really can’t beat Tim McGraw…he is the man.
- Following one of the best performances of the night is the Trailer Choir and “Shakin’ That Tailgate”…. very interesting.
- Commercial break with Rascal Flatts Hershey’s commercial and now a parody on Reba’s “Consider Me Gone” switches to Reba going after a Saturday Night Live impersonator. She is there to hand out the Collaborative Video of the Year Award. The winner of the CMT Buckle goes to……
Blake Shelton and Trace Adkins “Hillbilly Bone”
…..great song…once you get it in your head it’s hard to get it out.
- Lady Antebellum comes to the stage to introduce Brad Paisley who comes on stage to perform his hit single, “American Saturday Night”. I guess the CMT Awards could not provide a hot tub to jump in!!!
- Kid Rock and David Spade toss around a few jokes and introduce Jamey Johnson’s performance of his new song “Macon”. Country Throwdown Tourmates, Little Big Town provide background vocals for Johnson. Great stage set up. Song is great. Jamey Johnson is what country music should be all about. The song just became available to purchase as an E-single at jameyjohnson.com.
- Newcomer Laura Bell Bundy hits the side stage with “Giddy On Up”. I hope she does well on the charts. She adds some great spunk to country music.
- Paula Dean comes on stage with The Situation and Snookie from “Jersey Shore”. Why is this happening? Snookie can’t even put three words together. They are on stage to present the Performance of the Year Award. The winner of the Buckle is…..
Carrie Underwood “Temporary Home”
- Hardcore Tweeters, @BlakeShelton and @LauraBellBundy take the stage with some pretty good “Hillbilly Bone” banter. Blake has another 6 pak coming out Aug. 10th. They are introducing the performance of LeAnn Rimes. LeAnn is performing “Swinging”. a John Anderson song. Is Laura Bell Bundy the next LeAnn Rimes or maybe taking over where Rimes used to be? The cartwheels were a little much.
- Toby Keith comes on stage to perform “American Ride”. I want him to try to do a cartwheel!!!
- Steel Magnolia takes the side stage with their Top 10 hit, “Keep On Loving You”.
- Looks like a lot of fun going on in Kid Rock’s dressing room. An open bar, Kellie Pickler, Paula Dean, John Anderson, John Rich and many more party people.
- The King, Richard Petty and Luke Bryan come on out to introduce Zac Brown Band to perform their new single, “Free”. This is one of the best songs out right now and flying up the charts. These guys are solid gold.
- Martina McBride comes out to talk about CMT One Country and Rhapsody. You can go to Rhapsody.com and buy a song of a nominated artist and proceeds will go to Nashville’s flood relief.
- ESPN’s Erin Andrews comes out with her “Dancing With the Stars” partner. They are there to present Male Video of the Year. And the winner is…..
Keith Urban “Til Summer Comes Around”
- Kara DioGuardi introduces Carrie Underwood’s performance of “Undo It” a song that the American Idol judge co-wrote. Carrie continues to show why she is a crossover superstar.
- Justin Moore takes the side stage to perform his first big hit, “Smalltown USA”. Great song. I like this more then “Backwoods” but I think he is definitely a rising star.
- Female Video of the Year goes to….
Miranda Lambert “White Liar”
- Taylor Swift introduces the next performers, John Mayer and Keith Urban “Hit the Ground Running”. They are giving us a preview of the next episode of CMT Crossroads. The next commercial break provides the promo for the June 18th Crossroads performance.
- Easton Corbin takes the side stage with one of the great songs of the year, “A Little More Country Than That”. Too bad it was only about 10 seconds. I guess I will have to play my ring tone again.
- Kid Rock brought Sheryl Crow out on to the stage. Kid Rock is smoking a cigar on stage and I think he is wasted at this point or at least pretending to be. They are presenting the final award of the night for Video of the Year. And the big winner of the night is…..
Carrie Underwood “Cowboy Casanova”
Carrie Underwood has stolen the spotlight tonight with a tremendous performance and two CMT Buckle Awards. The first was for Performance of the Year for “Temporary Home” and the last was the biggest award of the night, Video of the Year for “Cowboy Casanova”. Congrats to Carrie.
- The 2010 CMT Awards closes with the hottest trio in all of music, Lady Antebellum performing “Stars Tonight”.
Music Row is gearing up for another great night with the annual CMT Music Awards on June 9th. There will be amazing performances, awards given out to all of the top artists and, of course, some surprises. What are you most excited about? Seeing what Kid Rock will do as the host of the show? Hearing bad jokes made by the cast of “The Jersey Shore”? Or are you excited about the performances of Toby Keith, Zac Brown Band and Carrie Underwood? I think it will be interesting to see which country queen walks away with more awards tonight, Carrie or Taylor?
The Red Carpet Show will begin at 7:00 pm and the Awards Show itself will begin at 8:00 pm. Check out the funny promo video below featuring Kid Rock. OCR will be blogging during the show so check back with us for all the latest winners, videos and banter.

Luke Bryan
Do you have a favorite country music video?
That’s hard to say. I’d say Breathe is one of the best ones ever. They glamorized Faith Hill in it and made her almost a mythical-like creature. [Laughs]
You’re on a roll with the awards, your fall release of Doin’ My Thing and Celebrity Apprentice.
It’s certainly been the best year of my career. Things have really started to come together nicely. A whole lot more people are learning who I am, and that’s what this business is about: branding yourself and who you are. I’ve been real fortunate this year with that.
I also hear you have a new baby due in August.
Yeah, I’ve got a little baby boy on the way, so I’ve got that going on. I’ll be busy with that, certainly.
Do you feel you’re better prepared this time around than with your first child?
Oh yeah. Your learning curve deal gets handled on the first one. We feel like we’re parents at this point and got it all figured out, but there are always new things that come about. Certainly, the second one we won’t doubt ourselves or question ourselves about anything.
Laura Bell Bundy
Congrats on your CMT nomination. Is that almost as exciting as a Tony nomination?
[Laughs] Probably pretty equal. It’s different when you’re getting a Tony nomination for an entire body of work as opposed to just getting a nomination for a video.
Which was your first love: musical theater or country music?
Music in general and just entertaining. When you’re a kid, you’re not really genre-specific. You love singing and you love dancing and you love running around the house. My mom listened to a lot, but that was at a younger age more of an influence than musical theater. I got into musical theater when I was a little bit older and I saw my first Broadway show and I became interested in that, too. I like to tell stories in the most entertaining way possible, and you can accompany those stories with music and dancing and jokes and stuff like that. You can do that in musical theater, but I’m also figuring out that you can do that in this genre, too. I like doing it this way better actually because I don’t write the songs when I do Broadway shows and I have a vested interest.
How does it feel being a rising queen of country music?
It’s surreal and amazingm and I feel lucky and blessed and grateful and all that kind of stuff. But it’s also been constant work. So it’s exhilarating and exhausting. It’s almost like you’re on a bit of a runaway train. You have to keep looking forward, because if you look back, you get left behind. But it’s everything I ever wanted, and when that’s happening, you don’t care how exhausted you get.
Easton Corbin
What’s your favorite country music video of all time?
I didn’t really grow up watching a lot of country music videos. I don’t have a favorite, but I can say this: All My Rowdy Friends was a pretty cool video. And that’s back in the day, man. There were no special effects on that!
Was Hank Williams Jr. one of your childhood idols?
Absolutely, man. I love a lot of his music. He’s great.
You released your self-titled debut in March. Are you already working on a new album?
That process should never end, the writing and looking for songs for the next record. It’s never too early, I don’t think.
What’s this year been like? Are you seeing the fruits of your labor now?
It’s a dream come true. You work hard at it so long and you aspire to see it pay off. With that, the hard work continues and you’ve just gotta keep your nose down and keep focused. I’m just so happy we’ve had the album come out and we’ve got a No. 1 single here. It’s been a great year and I hope it continues to go well.

Kid Rock made the official announcement on his website today that he will be hosting the CMT Awards. “The rumors are true,” Kid Rock says. “I’m hosting the CMT Awards live from Nashville on June 9. … All I can promise is I will be awesome.” Kid Rock is no stranger to country music. Most notably his song “All Summer Long” won a CMT Award at last year’s show and charted in the Top 10. Kid Rock will be spending some part of his summer opening for Bon Jovi. Will he also be added to the list of CMT Awards performers? I guess we will wait and see. Already announced to be performing are Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, Toby Keith, Keith Urban and Carrie Underwood. Stay tuned for more info on the CMT Awards.
