randyhouser52 300x181 Randy Houser Set for Sophomore Album Release
Randy Houser is set to release his sophomore album, “They Call Me Cadillac”, on September 14th. The Show Dog-Universal Music artist is very excited to continue to add “grit to the genre”. “I put my heart into this record,” says Houser. “We went into the studio with a direction in mind, conceptually, for the album, and the result is something I’m really proud of. I think people are ready to hear real country music again, and I’m one of them.”

Randy’s latest single from the new album, “I’m All About It” is rising up the charts, as Houser tell his woman how she makes him feel. “They Call Me Cadillac” is the follow up to Randy’s debut album, “Anything Goes”, which produced two top 20 hits and a video that had everybody talking about a little boy named Drake.

Track List for “They Call Me Cadillac”

1 “Lowdown and Lonesome”
2 “They Call Me Cadillac”
3 “Addicted”
4 “Man Like Me”
5 “Will I Always Be This Way”
6 “Out Here In The Country”
7 “I’m All About It”
8 “Here With Me”
9 “Whistlin’ Dixie”
10 “Somewhere South Of Memphis”
11 “If I Could Buy Me Some Time”
12 “Lead Me Home”

I am a big fan of Randy Houser. “Anything Goes” the single shows great vocal range and “Boot On” and “Whistlin’ Dixie” are great rockin’ out kind of songs. I hope Randy releases another single that will showcase his big, deep vocals soon.

Gary Allan has announced plans to extend his “Get Off On The Pain Tour” to include an additional 30 North American stops that will go from September 16th until the end of 2010. The first leg of Allan’s tour played to sold out crowds across the nation and Gary and his crew are not ready to slow down. “The first leg of the tour concentrated on intimate venues I’d always wanted to headline, like The Fillmore and The Ryman,” said Allan. “On the next leg of the tour we are going to bigger arenas and amphitheaters. It is exciting to take the tour to the next level. It’ll be a great night of hard rocking music. The fans are in for a party!” Allan’s latest album, which bears the name of the tour, was released in March to rave reviews, including one from Our Country Road.

On this extended leg of the tour, Gary will be joined by Randy Houser and newcomer Jerrod Niemann. Randy Houser burst onto the country music scene a few years ago with his hit single “Anything Goes” and continued his rise to stardom with the hit single, “Boots On”. The video for “Boots On” has been nominated for numerous awards, after featuring a young boy rocking out to the country tune. Houser’s latest effort is a mildly provocative, to the point song, “I’m All About It”. Houser will release an album later this year titled, “They Call Me Cadillac”. Jerrod Niemann’s single, “Lover, Lover” has caught the eye of country radio and is about to break into the Top 20 on the Billboard Charts in the next few weeks. The catchy single has many fans anticipating the release of his album, “Judge Jerrod and the Hung Jury”, later this year.

Gary Allan, recently named “Country’s Hottest Bachelor”, will be spending much of his summer touring with Brooks and Dunn during their “Last Rodeo Tour”, which will mark the end of their twenty year career as country music’s top duo. Check back soon for dates and venues that will be released for the next leg of the “Get Off On The Pain Tour”. In the meantime check out Gary Allan tickets to see when you catch his show near you.

RH AllAboutIt cov 300x300 Randy Houser: Im All About It
Fresh off of his CMT Awards Nomination for Breakthrough Video of the Year, Randy Houser is releasing the second single off of his forthcoming album, “They Call Me Cadillac”. As a follow up to “Whistlin’ Dixie”, Houser’s latest effort, “I’m All About It” does not beat around the bush. Houser gets straight to the point as he tells his lady that he wants nothing more than to be with her…..right now. Randy does not show off his strong vocal range in this song but he definitely shows off his ability to sing a mile a minute. It almost sounds like Randy is trying to get the song over with so that he can get down to business with the girl. As the Sam Gazdziak says on 9513 , the metaphors in “I’m All About It”, “may even surpass Jake Owen’s “Eight Second Ride.” Nothing overly original, but the song is catchy and will probably do fairly well on the radio. I would predict a Top 20 effort for Randy. Catch a listen to Randy’s new song at his myspace page. The song will be available on iTunes on April 20th.

Personally, I think “Whistlin’ Dixie” should have done better then #31 on the charts. I saw Randy live last month and the crowd went crazy for it. Maybe it had a little too much screaming for some people but I have times when I can’t get these lyrics out of my head. “cause, im a son of the son of the south, daddy redneck, momma half hippie, taught how to talk straight not back, or my little white butt get a whippin’” … Great stuff.

mirandalamberguitar 300x275 Miranda Lambert Bringing The Boys Along For The Ride
Miranda Lambert will start her “Roadside Bars & Pink Guitars” headlining tour next week and for most of the dates, she’s bringing some pretty cool guys along to be part of the show! Who are the Country Music Artists Miranda has joining her? James Otto, David Nail, Randy Houser, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Eric Church, Jake Owen, Wade Bowen, Luke Bryan and Chris Young. Each will join Miranda for select dates through out the tour.

“I like pink guitars and puppies so how scary can I be?” laughs Miranda. “Seriously, it’s going to be a lot of fun. I’ve been on tour with some great male headliners so I thought it’s only natural that I invite some talented guys on my first official headlining tour!”

Here’s what some of the boys had to say about the popular lady they will be touring with:

“Miranda is one of the most talented singer/songwriters out there,” says Chris Young. “I have always loved her music and her live shows, and I’m very excited about being on the road with her.”

“I can’t wait to get out on the road with Miranda,” says an enthusiastic Jake Owen. “She and her band know how to rock and our show is a perfect fit with that. Her fans are always ready to have a good time and we’re ready to show them a party.”

“Miranda and I both have a lot of respect for each other musically,” says Eric Church. “I consider her a badass and she considers me one. Put us both together and it should be unsafe at best. Everybody better rest up for this one cause we’re gonna blow it up.”

This is sure to be one fantastic show!

Thoughts on the ACM Nominations

Posted by Big Papa | Posted in Academy of Country Music, Brooks and Dunn, Carrie Underwood, Darius Rucker, David Nail, Eli Young Band, Gloriana, Jamey Johnson, Joey and Rory, Keith Urban, Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum, Lost Trailers, Miranda Lambert, Montgomery Gentry, Randy Houser, Rascal Flatts, Reba McEntire, Steel Magnolia, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Zac Brown Band | Posted on 03-03-2010

There weren’t too many big surprises with the ACM nominations, which were released on March 2nd. Lady Antebellum led the way with 7 nominations, while Miranda Lambert and Carrie Underwood received 5 nominations each. Zac Brown Band and Taylor Swift are next with a total of 4 nominations and are both in the running for Entertainer of the Year. It is over a month away, but country music fans will have a lot to look forward to on April 18th. Here are some thoughts and predictions from Our Country Road.
kenny chesney Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Entertainer of the year: No real surprises here. This list encompasses all of the top country music artists. The only real surprise would be Zac Brown Band. It is rare that a newish band would get an entertainer of the year win. OCR Prediction: Kenny Chesney

Top Male Vocalist of the Year: Biggest surprise on the list should not be a surprise after the year Darius Rucker has had. Three #1 hits, another top 5 and a great country/blues voice that has taken the country music scene by storm. OCR Prediction: Keith Urban

Top Female Vocalist of the Year: Miranda Lambert makes the list on the strength of her first #1 single, “White Liar”, as well as her certified Gold album, “Revolution”. She would be a great choice for this award, but I think that Carrie Underwood’s consistency and the strength of vocals from “I Told You So” will help her. It is also great to see Reba on top of the charts again, as well as in this nomination. OCR Prediction: Carrie Underwood
carrie underwood all star holiday special Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Top Vocal Duo of the Year: Weird group here. Steel Magnoilia and Joey and Rory will be competing for top new duo, so that takes them out of the running for this category (though they probably were never really considered for this award). I did not like the choice of “Joey” as a single from Sugarland and Montgomery Gentry had an “ok” year but nothing spectacular. During their “Last Rodeo” how does Brooks and Dunn not get the award? OCR Prediction: Brooks and Dunn

Top Vocal Group of the Year: Ah yes, here is where it gets interesting. Perennial winner Rascal Flatts, hottest trio in all of music, Lady Antebellum and the throwback band of Zac Brown. It is a complete toss up. Each group deserves to win. Rascal Flatts is celebrating their 10th year, Lady A is celebrating their wildly successful single and album, “Need You Now” and Zac Brown Band burst onto the national scene at the Grammys last month by winning Best New Group. This is the award that I can not wait to see who wins. OCR Prediction: Zac Brown Band
luke bryan Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Top New Solo Vocalist of the Year: Great group of newcomers. Jamey Johnson doesn’t really fit into this group for me. He has been around for a few years and his first big single, “The Dollar” was released in 2005. Is he considered a new artist because of his new facial hair? I love Jamey, but this does not work for me. Luke Bryan was able to get his first #1 single with “Do I” and Chris Young hit the top spot this past year also with, “Gettin’ You Home”. All three have an opportunity to be big artists in the future. Another toss up. OCR Prediction: Luke Bryan

Top New Vocal Duo: I can’t pretend to care too much about this category. Steel Magnolia have a popular song right now. Joey and Rory and Bomshel have not done much on the charts, so it is hard to give them an award. OCR Prediction: Steel Magnolia

Top New Vocal Group: Another tough category to get excited about. Gloriana has had some mainstream success. The Lost Trailers and Eli Young Band are both in the same position of having one top 15 song in their career and the search is on for another top 15 song. I actually liked The Lost Trailers’ follow up single to “Hollerback”, which was “How ’bout You Don’t”. Unfortunately both of these songs were in 2008. OCR Prediction: Gloriana (though it pains me)
517ryK4u77L. SL500 AA280 Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Album of the Year: It’s hard to knock any of these albums. “Foundation”, “Revolution” and “Play On” probably have the most depth. Lady A will have to wait till next award show for this category when “Need You Now” will be in the running. Paisley continues to produce #1 hits, but his album lacks the depth of the others. OCR Prediction: “Foundation” – Zac Brown Band
Single Record of the Year: All great singles. David Nail had an impressive 42 week run on the charts with “Red Light”. Lambert received her first #1 with “White Liar”. “Toes” is a fun loving summer song and “People are Crazy” is another engaging and funny story time song from Billy Currington. Unfortunately for all of these great songs, “Need You Now” is an epic song from a group that is on top of the industry right now. OCR Prediction: “Need You Now” – Lady Antebellum
taylor swift you belong with me 320x240 Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Song of the Year: Some crossovers from the last category, but Taylor Swift arriving in this category with her insanely popular “You Belong to Me” will make for stiff competition for the others. If Taylor doesn’t win, I think Miranda will get herself an award in this category. OCR Prediction: “You Belong to Me” – Taylor Swift

Video of the Year: Nothing beats that little kid in Randy Houser’s video, “Boots On”. It’s not worth talking about any of the rest of them. OCR Prediction: “Boots On” – Randy Houser

Drakeblog 320x240 Thoughts on the ACM Nominations
Vocal Event of the Year: I think this category comes down to two songs, “Hillbilly Bone” and “I Told You So”. The first being a fun-loving country livin’ theme song and the other a sentimental love gone wrong song. “I’m Alive” really didn’t impress me that much. Kenny and Dave were able to use their names to get the song up the charts. This category totally depends on what the academy is looking for; country boys having fun or tear jerking love song. OCR Prediction: “I Told You So” – Carrie Underwood and Randy Travis

What do you all think? Tell me where I have gone wrong. We can’t wait to hear from you!
